Concrete Coating Classes in Southern Indiana: What to Expect

Hands on concrete coating training in Salem, Indiana. Here is who the class is for, what a training day covers, and how group and one on one sessions differ.

Most coating failures are not product failures. They are prep failures, timing failures, and technique failures that nobody caught until the floor started peeling. That is the reason we teach concrete coating classes in Salem, Indiana, and it is what the class is built around.

Who the class is for

We train contractors who are adding coatings to an existing business, crews who have installed a few floors and keep running into the same problems, and people starting out who would rather learn on someone else’s slab than on a paying customer’s garage. You do not need to own equipment to attend.

What a day looks like

Classes combine classroom instruction with real work on real concrete. You will spend part of the day on the why: how concrete behaves, why surface profile matters, how moisture and temperature change your working time. The rest of the day you are running equipment.

  • Setting up a grinder and matching diamond tooling to the slab
  • Connecting dust collection and running a vacuum the way OSHA expects
  • Removing existing coatings and grinding to a proper profile
  • Mixing, spreading, and broadcasting flake to refusal
  • Scraping and top coating, plus the timing that decides the finish

You train on the equipment you will actually buy

We teach on Lavina grinders, Pulse-Bac vacuums, and Lavina diamond tooling, which are the same machines and tooling we stock and service. That matters more than it sounds. Learning on equipment you will never see again leaves you guessing on your first real job.

Taught by people who still install floors

The instruction comes from the crew behind Sullivan’s Concrete Coatings, with more than 800,000 square feet of coatings installed. When you ask what happens on a slab that will not stop bleeding moisture, or how to handle a garage in February, you get an answer from someone who has had that exact day.

Group classes and one on one sessions

Group classes are the most common choice and the most affordable. One on one training is the better fit if you want to work through a specific coating system, bring a problem job to the table, or move at your own pace. Both run at our Salem location, which is an easy drive for contractors in Washington County, Scottsburg, Corydon, Paoli, Bedford, and Seymour.
